M. Kenneth Oshman, Chairman and CEO
Oshman joined Echelon in 1988. With three associates, he founded ROLM Corporation in 1969 and served as its chief executive officer, president, and director until IBM acquired it in 1984. He was a vice president of IBM until 1986. Oshman earned B.A. and B.S. degrees from Rice University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Stanford Alumni Association and as a member of the Board of Governors at Rice University. He has been Chairman of the American Electronics Association, the Santa Clara County Manufacturing Group, and the Community Foundation of Silicon Valley. The recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Rice University and a member of the National Academy of Engineering, Oshman is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, Sigma Tau, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Beatrice Yormark, President and COO
Yormark came to Echelon in 1990 from the online information services company Connect Inc., where she was chief operating officer. Before that, she held a variety of positions including executive director of systems engineering for Telaction Corporation; director in the role of partner at Coopers & Lybrand; vice president of sales at Interactive Systems Corporation; and various staff positions at the Rand Corporation. Yormark has an M.S. in computer science and a B.S. in mathematics from City College of New York, and has taught computer science at Purdue University. In 2003, she received a Purdue University School of Science Distinguished Alumnus Award. In addition, in 2001, she was a YWCA Santa Clara Women in Industry Honoree. She serves on the Board of Directors of I.D. Systems, Inc.
Anders Axelsson, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Axelsson joined Echelon in 2003 from PowerFile, a private optical storage company, where he was CEO. He began his career with an 11-year stint at ABB Industry, holding a number of sales, marketing, and engineering management positions including director of marketing. After ABB he joined Measurex (later acquired by Honeywell) and held senior positions including vice president of business area operations and president/managing director for Europe and Africa. He later joined Snap Appliances (a subsidiary of Quantum Corporation) as president and general manager for the workgroup network-attached storage business. Axelsson holds an undergraduate degree from ED Technical Institute in Jonkoping, Sweden, and is a graduate of the Executive Program at the University of Michigan. He serves on PowerFile’s Board of Directors.
Barry Haaser, Senior Director, LonWorks Infrastructure Business
Haaser is responsible for business development, training, and management of partner programs that support the design, development, sale, and integration of solutions using the LonWorks platform. Previously, he was the executive director of LonMark International, a global trade organization supporting the development of technical standards and marketing programs to facilitate the adoption of open, interoperable solutions. Before joining LonMark, Haaser was vice president of marketing at Alacritech, a network and storage acceleration solutions provider, and director of marketing at Saratoga Systems, a customer relationship management solutions provider. Haaser also spent 11 years with Echelon, where he held a variety of marketing and management positions. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from San Jose State University.
Steve Nguyen, Director, Corporate Marketing
Nguyen has held a number of marketing management positions at Echelon, which he joined in 1992, including those in public relations and online services. He has also been responsible for data systems and for marketing and sales tools including sales force automation, customer resource management, and technical support. Nguyen serves on the Continental Automated Building Association (CABA) Board of Directors, chairs the UIC marketing committee, and is a member of the marketing committees of the OSGi Alliance and LonMark® Americas. Before joining Echelon, he worked in computer sales and consumer goods merchandizing. He holds an MBA from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and an undergraduate degree from Brandeis University.
